Becoming a sperm donor is an incredible opportunity to provide treatment options to many individuals and couples longing to become parents. A single donation can transform lives, and the need for new donors is greater than ever.

If you’re considering becoming a donor, you probably have some questions. Here are the top FAQs about our sperm bank program in Phoenix, AZ, along with detailed answers to help you get started!

What are the Benefits of Becoming a Sperm Donor?

Becoming a sperm donor offers numerous rewards:

  • Compensation: Earn $100 per donation, up to 3 times per week.
  • Health Screening: Receive routine health exams, STI testing, and genetic carrier screening.
  • Making a Difference: Provide hope to individuals and couples who are eager to become parents.

How Long is the Sperm Donor Commitment?

We ask donors to commit to the program for at least 6 months. This duration ensures that we can conduct the necessary blood work to release donations and collect multiple donations for treatments. The goal is to donate at least once per week, up to three times per week. All the scheduling is flexible, and donations can be given as a walk-in basis as you have time in your schedule.

Will Recipients Know Who I Am?

Our bank operates as an Open ID sperm bank. This means that donor-conceived individuals can request a one-time contact with their donor, but only after they reach adulthood. The contact may be a phone call, video chat, or email, depending on what works best for both parties. Before any contact is initiated, all identifying information is kept confidential. We adhere strictly to HIPAA regulations to ensure your privacy.

How Long Does It Take to Get Accepted into the Program?

The application process varies based on testing, screening, and questionnaire completion. This process can take a few weeks or more, depending on the individual’s availability and needs.

What Medical Tests and Screenings Do Donors Undergo?

Donors undergo thorough testing and screening to ensure donations are free of infectious diseases and to identify any genetic risks to future donor-conceived children.

Screening and testing include:

  • HTLV I/II
  • HIV
  • Hepatitis B & C
  • Chlamydia
  • Gonorrhea
  • West Nile Virus
  • CMV
  • Genetic Carrier Screening
  • Routine physicals

Why Do I Have to Live Near Phoenix?

Donations must be collected in person at our lab to verify the donor’s identity and maintain the viability of the sample. However, if you relocate, we have additional donation centers in San Diego, CA; Seattle, WA; Denver, CO; and Las Vegas, NV.

Why Do People Need Sperm Donors?

People need sperm donors for various reasons, including:

  • Two-mom families
  • Single moms by choice
  • Male factor infertility
